2023 Fair Trade Changemaker Tour

The Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand is delighted to present a multi-city series of events that aim to energise and galvanise the Fair Trade Movement after years of disruption. As the regional body representing Fair Trade businesses, advocates and community groups, this initiative will grow our influence and elevate our voice on our core mission of poverty alleviation in the Global South through trade justice.

About the Tour

The Fair Trade Changemaker Tour will involve a series of in-person events in Melbourne, Sydney & Perth as well as live-steaming for those in other regions. There will be 1 large public event in each state and a series of satellite engagements to grow the support and awareness of Fair Trade. This initiative will include media opportunities and a vibrant Crowdfunding campaign to galvanise collective support.

Melbourne | Changemaker Evening | 10th August

Sydney | Freedom Evening | 11th August

Join us for an inspirational evening with a keynote address from Mitos Urgel, followed by a panel discussion with key figures working to eliminate modern slavery, discussing how we can work together to eliminate slavery through Fair Trade.

Keynote Speaker 

Mitos Urgel is the President and CEO of the World Fair Trade Organization in Asia, an alliance of over 120 Guaranteed Fair Trade Enterprises in Asia promoting justice in International trade. She is also the President and CEO of WEAVE (Women' s Education for Advancement and Empowerment) a WFTO Guaranteed social enterprise.

For over 25 years, Mitos passionately works to advance the rights, status and dignity of women including refugees and underprivileged indigenous women and their families in Thailand, Myanmar and other parts of Asia through livelihoods and education programs.
